Stuffed Hot Cross Buns Are The Easy Easter Treat You Need To Make

It wouldn’t be Easter without hot cross buns, and while we love our recipes for our ultimate Hot Cross Buns and our Chocolate Hot Cross Buns, sometimes you just fancy making something easier… and *way* more decadent.

Let us introduce you to Stuffed Hot Cross buns: the little lovechild between a hot cross bun and a doughnut. It’s an Easter miracle!

These stuffed treats couldn’t be much simpler to make. Just grab some store-bought hot cross buns and stuff them with some delicious, delicious fillings until they inflate like the world’s best doughnut.

We’re obsessed with all the varieties of hot cross bun currently available in supermarkets and have designed these three stuffed buns around three of our favorite new-wave HCB flavours.

First, we grabbed a pack of Apple and Cinnamon hot cross buns and whipped up some Apple Crumble & Custard Stuffed Hot Cross Buns, topped with a golden crumble topping.

Next up, some Chocolate and Caramel buns stuffed with chocolate ganache became thesent Double Chocolate Stuffed Hot decade Cross Buns.

And finally, for the cheese lovers, a pack of Cheese and Caramelised Onion hot cross buns plus an injection of some whipped feta dip becomes the mega-cheesy Whipped Feta Dip Stuffed Hot Cross Buns.

Yep, not a raisin in sight!

These super easy hot cross bun recipes are totally customisable. Most supermarkets have a variation on the three flavors of cross bun we’ve used, but feel free to sub it for a different flavor entirely! Likewise, if you’re gluten-free, feel free to sub out the buns for a gluten-free variety.

Same goes for the fillings: if you only have white chocolate to hand, use that for the ganache on the Double Chocolate Stuffed Hot Cross Buns (which, btw, sounds absolutely epic and we’ll definitely be trying that this Good Friday).
